Audience Participation

An important aspect of the success of a street play is the agreement of and acceptance by the audience. These are some tips in involving the audience-

1 Singing before the actual play, including the audience while using instruments and dancing.

2 Involve the audience in the dialogues

3 Involve the audience in the scenes

4 Gather the criticism of the audience after the play

5 Ask the audience if they liked the play… also, why? if yes/no

6 Ask the audience to assess the play

7 This would help the audience to think about the play in detail, thus helping in achieving the aim of the play.

8 Use things in and around the venue as props and involve the audience in the process.

9 The audience plays the most important role in a street play, This aspects of street theatre must always be kept in mind while presenting the dramatic qualities and theatrical power of a play.

Audience participation elevates a street play form the level of sloganism to effective presentation.    BACK
