ACTOR BACK
I as an actor believe that the ultimate responsibility to convey the message to the audience comes to an actor because he is the one who is in direct contact with the audience. Writer writes the play and makes the actor understand the character; Director directs the play and makes the actor understand the character but it is the actor who is responsible for delivering the goods. Any gestures, emotion, emphasis on word (s), energy level, which are not in line of director's and writer's concern will mess-up the play. Acting for me is, making the character alive that comes from within. To put soul in the character is the work of an actor. And for that he must understand the character's mental, emotional and physical level. The more an actor understands the character the easier it becomes for him to bridge the gap between the actor and the character.
An actor must understand the psychology of a writer. There are 4 basic points that a writer takes into account :
1. purpose
2. information
3. emotion
4. expression
What is the purpose of writing a particular word? What information he has to convey to the audience? What is the emotional level of the character and how to express that? So when I understand a writer I understand his 4 basic points.
An actor must understand his director also. How a director visualizes scenes written by the writer. What he wants from the actor? It is also important to understand the director because he decides on the interaction of a particular character with the other characters. An actor eases out his way of living the character by understanding the director.
I go on evaluating my strengths and weaknesses as an actor and work hard to strengthen my strengths.
I work on the following thing as an actor :
1. visualization
2. concentration
3. self-confidence
4. sensitivity
5. expression
6. dedication
7. experience
8. voice
9. language
10. listening capability
11. discipline to achieve all these
12. I also keep myself bodily fit to use my body as a property too as and when required.
