Evangelical Teachers’ Fellowship

Greetings from the Evangelical Teachers’ Fellowship of India. In the late sixties and early seventies, there was a growing awareness that the graduate – professionals of the UESI family needed help to translate their faith into action by utilising their professional calibre and experience to strengthen their witness.

This prompted the teachers, doctors, nurses and other professionals to recommend the formation of separate Fellowships as Professional Associates of UESI at the National Consultative and Departmental Conference of UESI in December 1974. Thus was birthed the Evangelical Teachers’ Fellowship (ETF) in 1977 as a professional associate of UESI.

ETF is a National Christian Fellowship of teachers in service or retired right from Kindergarten to higher education and research. ETF is interdenominational encouraging its members to live by the moral standards given in God’s Word.

By God’s grace and faithfulness, the ETF ministry began under the leadership of the founder member and the first General Secretary,
Dr. G. Devapaul, (Warangal, Andra Pradesh) and was nurtured by Dr. Eappen John and Dr. Spurgeon Anandaraj from Hyderabad. It was a proud moment for ETF as her Ruby Jubilee was celebrated in 2017. All Praise and Glory to God for this. The past leaders, Prof. W. A. F. Hopper (New Delhi / Chennai), Dr. L. N. Tluanga (Mizoram), Mr. Prince Edward and Mr. Sony Zechariah (Karnataka), Dr. Subhankar Ghosh (Odisha), Dr. V. K. Williams (Delhi), Dr. Anil Z. Matthew and Mrs. Kathy Jain (Maharashtra) and many more, served with gusto in line with the vision and mission of ETF. We remember them and their service with gratitude.

ETF organizes Biennial National Conferences, Annual and State conferences and periodical fellowship meetings at the local level in different parts of the country. These are aimed at enhancing the growth of fellowship of Christian teachers and solidifying their faith life walk as they serve as witnessing teachers in their workplaces. The 21st Biennial National Conference was held in Pune in October 2019. We are looking forward to celebrating ETFs Golden Jubilee in 2027.

ETF also organises training programs and workshops in schools and colleges across the country to equip and encourage the teachers for holistic education. ETF has published books with enriching articles for educators. The quarterly journal Chalk and Chai published by ETF is a source of useful information and insights helpful for any teacher.

There are many Christian teachers and educational institutions who have yet to know about this organization. It is our prayer that through this website, the Almighty God will enable many more teachers and educational institutions to associate and align themselves with this organization to help build God’s kingdom on this earth through their God given talent of teaching and their expertise gained in the course of their teaching career.
